Abuja, Nigeria – Shafa Energy, a subsidiary of AYM Shafa Holdings Limited and a leading name in sustainable energy innovation, has officially launched Shafa CNG, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s transition to cleaner, more affordable energy alternatives.
The launch of Shafa CNG comes at a pivotal moment for Nigeria, as the federal government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, continues to push for energy reforms in the wake of fuel subsidy removal. The initiative is closely aligned with the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), which targets the deployment of 1 million CNG-powered vehicles by 2027, alongside the development of 1,000 conversion and refuelling stations across the country.
A Bold Step Towards Sustainability
Speaking on the initiative, Alhaji Yakubu Maishanu, Executive Chairman of AYM Shafa Holdings, emphasized the strategic importance of the project:

Maishanu added that the rising demand for cost-effective energy solutions post-subsidy has spurred significant interest in CNG as a viable alternative to petrol. Backed by increasing government support, the number of CNG conversion centres in Nigeria has grown from just 7 to 193, attracting over $440 million in private sector investments.
Cleaner, Cheaper, and More Accessible
Shafa CNG is designed to be a reliable, efficient, and eco-friendly fuel option, helping reduce carbon emissions while also saving costs for consumers. The initiative aims to serve both private motorists and commercial transport operators, helping to cushion the effects of high petrol prices and create a cleaner environment.
