Radisson Hotel Group Signs 13th Nigerian Property, Brings Radisson RED to Abuja

The Radisson Hotel Group is strengthening its footprint in Nigeria’s booming hospitality sector with the signing of its 13th hotel in the country—Radisson RED Abuja.

This landmark development, announced this week, brings the number of Radisson properties under development in Abuja to four—the highest concentration of any city in Nigeria and West Africa. The latest signing boosts the Group’s national portfolio to 13 hotels and over 1,700 rooms, both operational and in development.

Scheduled to open in 2028, Radisson RED Abuja will mark the debut of the trendy RED brand in the capital and become the Group’s second RED property in Nigeria.

Strategically located in Wuse, Abuja’s bustling commercial and social hub, the 105-room hotel will offer access to key corporate offices, residential estates, shopping centres, and nightlife venues.

Guests can expect a range of upscale amenities, including:

  • A rooftop bar and terrace
  • An all-day dining restaurant
  • A pool bar and grill
  • 238 square meters of meeting and event space, including three meeting rooms and a pre-function area
  • A fully equipped fitness centre

Radisson Hotel Group says the signing forms part of its goal to reach 15 hotels in Nigeria by 2025, following five new signings in 2023 alone. The expansion is also in line with the Group’s pan-African strategy to scale up to 150 hotels across Africa over the next five years, up from the current tally of just over 100.

“The seven new hotels signed in the first half of 2024 reflect our strategic focus on key African markets such as Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Ethiopia, as well as our highly anticipated entry into Tanzania,” said Ramsay Rankoussi, Vice President, Development, Africa and Turkey at Radisson Hotel Group.

“These additions showcase our commitment to portfolio diversification and our aggressive conversion strategy,” he added.

Radisson RED, known for its bold, design-driven ethos and informal service model, is positioned to appeal to modern, tech-savvy travelers. The brand places a strong emphasis on vibrant social spaces, flexible experiences, and standout aesthetics.

Other Radisson signings in Nigeria include:

  • Radisson Hotel, Benin City
  • Radisson Collection Hotel & Conference Center, Abuja
  • Radisson Blu Hotel, Abuja CBD
  • Radisson RED Lagos, Victoria Island

With these additions, Radisson Hotel Group is poised to play a central role in shaping the future of luxury hospitality across Nigeria and the continent.
