American Hospital Dubai Expands in Nigeria with New Office in Abuja

Following the recent inauguration of its first Nigerian office in LagosAmerican Hospital Dubai has announced plans to open a second representative office in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital. This strategic move is part of a broader initiative to enhance access to world-class medical care for Nigerians in partnership with the UAE’s premier healthcare institution.

Like its Lagos counterpart, the upcoming Abuja office will provide full support for Nigerian patients seeking treatment in Dubai. Services will include visa processing, flight arrangements, and accommodation coordination, helping to make international medical travel more seamless and affordable.

Bridging Nations Through Healthcare

The Abuja office will serve as a healthcare embassy, according to Prince Tonye Princewill, board member of American Hospital Dubai Nigeria Ltd.

“Consider it or look at it as the embassy for the American Hospital,” Princewill said while addressing media in Port Harcourt. “If you want to go to American Hospital in Dubai and pass through this office, your trip will be seamless. In fact, it will even be cheaper — we’ve secured heavy discounts for African patients.”

The Lagos office was officially commissioned by Dr. Abdullah Al-Mandoos, Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Nigeria, alongside Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Commitment to Nigeria’s Healthcare Access

Princewill emphasized that the move represents the first phase of American Hospital Dubai’s long-term commitment to Nigeria.

“We are exploring additional representative offices across the country to broaden access and bridge the gap between Nigerian patients and top-tier healthcare in Dubai. Nigeria is one of our most important markets, and we’re here not to take that for granted,” he stated.

Looking Ahead: A Diagnostic Center in Nigeria

Beyond the Abuja expansion, plans are underway to establish a state-of-the-art diagnostic center in Nigeria. This marks a shift from referral-based support to more localized medical infrastructure, helping to address complex diagnostic needs without the necessity for international travel in some cases.

“This expansion reflects our intent to invest in Nigeria, not just by facilitating access to healthcare abroad, but by bringing diagnostic excellence closer to home,” Princewill added.
